Our 10-month-old Spinone Italiano, Mochi, recently achieved a remarkable milestone by earning her AKC championship during the pre-shows at the Royal Canin AKC National Championship week in Orlando, Florida. This achievement marks a significant moment not only for Mochi but also for everyone involved in her journey. Alongside Mochi’s success, her father also won a best of breed, earning his Grand Championship title. This post shares the highlights of Mochi’s championship journey, the vibrant atmosphere of the AKC National Championship, and the unforgettable experiences we enjoyed throughout the event.

Mochi’s Path to Becoming a Champion Spinone Italiano
Mochi’s journey to becoming a champion Spinone Italiano was filled with dedication, training, and careful preparation. At just 10 months old, she earned her third major during the pre-shows, which secured her AKC championship title. This is a significant accomplishment for such a young dog, especially in a breed known for its distinctive appearance and strong hunting background.
The competition was fierce, with many gorgeous Spinoni vying for the same title. Mochi’s success reflects not only her excellent conformation but also the commitment of our training and to her breeder Julia Grandt. Achieving a championship title at the AKC National Championship is a testament to her quality and potential and she's definitely a bitch to look out for in the future.

Looking Ahead: What Mochi’s Championship Means for the Future
Earning the AKC championship at such a young age sets Mochi on a promising path. Plans for Mochi include working on back-end titles like Obedience, rally, and possibly hunt titles if we can get with some likeminded spinone folks. We're also planning to work on Mantrailing, giving Mochi a great opportunity to use that wonderful nose!
For dog enthusiasts and spinone owners, Mochi’s success is a reminder of the rewards that come doing something you enjoy. Whether you are showing your dog for the first time or are a seasoned competitor, the AKC National Championship offers a platform to showcase your dog’s talents and connect with a community that shares your love for the breed.
